About Me

Hi I’m Holly. I’m a new mom – one who is a little late to the party.  I have an infant daughter and I’m a stepmom to a 10 year old girl.  These are not things I envisioned for myself 10 years ago, but I could not be happier with how it all turned out.

I left work when my baby was born and I’m going back to school for a master’s in the fall.  I’m not working for the first time in many, many years.  So why did I start a blog?

After perusing the many sites about 40-something new moms, I found that I wasn’t thrilled with the information.  But alas… I have good news to share!  For me, becoming a mom later in life was absolutely the right decision.  I want to let people know that its okay to do that.  Not that you need permission, but I want to acknowledge all the parents who decided to go for it.  You are brave and you won’t regret it.

I worked in the field of human services (specifically with people who have developmental disabilities) for over 20 years until leaving my job in the summer of 2016 to have my baby.  I am so fortunate to have sold my house in Denver and made enough to stay home with the baby for a couple years and get a master’s degree.  [Thank you, legal marijuana, for drawing all these new people to the state and driving up property values!  Cannabis – you have made this possible.]  This is one of the best times of my life.
